Gift1 by Powernet, an online tablet device retailer, launched in April with a mission to make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged. That mission is now coming to fruition as it makes its first round of donations -- spurred by consumer participation in its buy-one-give-one program -- to partner charities and organizations.
A total of 33 7-inch tablets will be received by:
Appalachian Children’s Home (Barbourville, KY)
City Gospel Mission (Cincinnati, OH)
The Dragonfly Foundation (Cincinnati, OH)
Miracle Ministries (Kadali, India)
Ronald McDonald House (Cincinnati, OH)
Organizations are slated to receive their tablets at donation events over the next few weeks. Another round of donations will take place again at the end of the summer.
“It’s impacted the family. Not just one child, but two,” said Traci Barnes, whose 11-year-old son Donovan has overcome the challenges of ADHD in school with help from his Gift1 tablet. Her other son, Devinn, age 4, also uses the tablet to help with Sensory Processing Disorder. “It’s a great tool for kids their ages.”
Customers who place an order of $150 or more at powernetgift1.com may select the organization they want Gift1 to donate a 7-inch tablet to from a pre-approved “favored recipient” list. Each favored recipient has been vetted based on intended use of the tablets and overall credibility.
“We’ve been working hard to get the word out about Gift1 and we’re finally starting to see the payoff,” said Allison Stevens,CEO at Powernet, which provides backing for the Gift1 program. “A big thank you has to go out to everyone that made a purchase contributing to the cause.”
