Powernet received its tenth Pillar Award for Community Service as a result of technology donations to local communities.

Cincinnati, OH - January 29, 2021 -  Powernet received its 10th Pillar Award for Community Service at the Medical Mutual Pillar Awards, presented by Smart Business. The Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service honors businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their communities. Its purpose is to encourage a charitable environment, recognize creative efforts that make a difference, and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and nonprofit worlds.

As one of ten Greater Cincinnati businesses honored at the event, Powernet would like to congratulate Finit, Journey Steel Inc., KDM POP Solutions Group, Mesa Industries Inc., Phillips Edison & Company, Total Quality Logistics, Towne Properties, Turner Construction Company, and Zumbiel Packaging for also receiving the Pillar Award.

“Our team works hard to find new ways to utilize our access to technology and give back to our local communities,” says Alli Stevens, CEO of Powernet. “From free public Wi-Fi to donated remote work services, we have put a real effort into making this tough time a little bit easier for community members.”

The global pandemic did not stop the Powernet team from making a difference in its local communities. Whether it was donating remote work technology or providing a free lunch to frontline healthcare workers, Powernet team members worked hard to find ways to continue supporting those affected by the pandemic. A donation drive was organized by the company to provide organizations much needed supplies including school uniforms and backpacks, various housing supplies, and more than 1,400 pounds of dog food.

Although Powernet’s public Wi-Fi networks have been in place and continue to expand year after year, the networks have never been as important as they were over the last year. As the pandemic took hold, a massive shift to remote work and learning took place quickly. As a result of this shift, Powernet’s public Wi-Fi networks in Lower Price Hill and Avondale were leveraged by workers and students in both communities to stay connected. Additionally, the public Wi-Fi networks’ analytics software allowed Powernet to advertise job opportunities, COVID-19 resources from local hospitals, free meal pick-ups in their local area and virtual fitness classes to community residents. Powernet is committed to utilizing both networks to continue to support residents’ needs and create opportunities from members of the Cincinnati community.
